On Saturday, June 24, 2017, I was invited by the Saigon UI/UX Meetup to give a presentation on how we build to our customer’s needs at CrewFire.
I gave about a 20 minute talk walking through a case study of how we worked directly with one of our high-end customers to build a premium feature to their spec. I walked them through the entire process, from the first conversation all through the resulting software.
After my talk, the leaders from the UI/UX Meetup walked the attendees through a 1.5 hour workshop & competition on how to design user stories for different parts of the user journey, and then turn those stories into wireframes.
The audience was split up into 8 teams. Each team was assigned a different component of a mobile app idea to design (a credit card comparison, selection, and management app).
Then, they had about an hour or so to write the user stories for their component, and then design 2-3 screens addressing those user stories.
After the breakout sessions, each team was given 3 minutes to present their outline of the user stories, and the 3 screens they designed.
After the presentations, everyone voted for the team with the best designs. The votes were tallied, and a winner was selected:
The event was a blast, and I had a particularly good time speaking with several of the attendees including Van, the founder of the Vietnamese Coach Search Engine Vexere (60+ employees, 4 different product lines serving transportation!), and Hieu, a Product Owner at Cho Tot – the Craigslist of Vietnam (serving over 1B pageviews a month!!).
Thanks to the Saigon UI/UX Meetup for inviting me!
